Your 10th-grade results are yet to be out and the dilemma of choosing between science, commerce, or arts has already started hovering over your mind. There is no denying the fact that this decision is one of the most important decisions you will make in your life.

Your entire career and life are dependent on this decision. Hence, you must do thorough research and choose wisely between commerce, arts, and science.

There are plenty of students who have already made a rigid plan of what they will choose between these streams and where they see themselves post-completing their studies.

However, there are still students who bite their nails under the sun because they lack proper guidance.

We are in an era where if a student scores above 90% is suggested to opt for science and the students with low scores are suggested to opt for arts. The students who fairly score between 75-85% are recommended to choose Commerce as their stream.

Why? Is it a myth? Or is this the way that has always worked out for the kids? It is time to change the notion and to understand wisely that science, commerce, or arts - is best suited for you.

Let us first begin with the understanding that the only point of difference in choosing between science vs commerce vs arts is your interest in the subject.

You could be a 95% scoring student and aim to be an artist or have a keen interest in history.

You could be a 75% scoring student and yet want to be an engineer.

Or you could be a 65% scoring student and would want to pursue international business to expand your family business.

Therefore, your interest has more role than your scores in choosing a stream that is meant for you.

Let us now gain a deeper understanding of all the streams and help you make a better choice with your life as well as your career. Be it arts, science, or commerce, you are meant to lead the life of your dreams.

What is Science?

The science stream comprises core subjects like Physics and Chemistry. A student can choose between Biology and Mathematics as optional subjects along with the core subjects.

Lately, the schools also provide students with an option to choose subjects from other streams like Economics, Commerce, and Psychology from Arts.

The students pursuing Science can opt for building their careers in engineering, medicine, technology, software, pure sciences, forensic expert, geologist, scientist, etc.

What is Commerce?

The commerce stream includes Business Studies, Economics, and Accounts as the Core subjects. The optional subjects are Mathematics, Information Practice, and Secretarial Practice.

A student can choose any of these optional subjects as per their preference. The Commerce students also have an option to choose an optional subject from an Arts stream but not from the science stream.

The students who pursue Commerce have a huge list of career opportunities to choose from. They can enter the professions in the field of banking, entrepreneurship, financing, accounting, insurance, clerical, managerial, and other administrative roles.

What is Arts/Humanities?

We are coming up with a generation of artists who have a keen interest in unique areas. These students fondly choose Arts/Humanities as their stream.

It is no longer a stream of low scorers, in fact, Arts now caters to the students who want to make fulfilling careers as journalists, photographers, writers, filmmakers, archaeologists, psychologists, graphic designers, interior designers, professors, etc.

The core subjects covered in the Arts stream are psychology, history, geography, sociology, literature, language, Sanskrit, and Hindi. The most popular artists and budding artists in Gen Z are coming from Arts/ Humanities only.

When Should You Opt For Arts?

Science vs Commerce vs Arts Salary

Gone are the days when only CAs and doctors used to make handsome salaries because of their profession.

Today, every stream is equally successful and even photographers, writers, young entrepreneurs, artists, and filmmakers are making good salaries with more exposure to people.

The competition is no longer between science vs commerce salary, but the arts professionals are equally competent and students make a great living out of their arts career.

Hence, a rigid comparison between the salaries of these streams is not a good idea.

Companies and new start-ups are more open to fresh ideas and innovations, therefore, every student can earn the best out of their education attained.

Conclusion

It is important to understand that you are investing the rest of your life in a stream that will help you attain degrees from big universities. Hence, your time and money hold utmost importance and you as a student must be very careful.
